What Does A Superyacht Engineer Do?
Superyacht engineers are responsible for the technical operations and safety of the vessel. Your duties may include:
Engine and generator maintenance
Electrical and filtration systems
AV/IT systems and A/C maintenance
Tender and water toy servicing
Fuel, lubrication, and cooling systems
Ensuring full compliance with international safety regulations
On larger yachts, you may work in an engineering team. On smaller vessels, you may begin in a dual Deck/Engineer role, making our Deckhand Course a great add-on for your CV.

MCA Approved AEC Course
This 5-day, entry-level course covers the essential theoretical and hands-on skills you need to become a certified marine engineer. Topics include:
Principles of diesel engine operation (2-stroke and 4-stroke)
Fuel systems and combustion
Lubrication and cooling systems
Power transmission
Electrical systems
Hull fittings and pollution prevention
Code of Safe Working Practices (COSWP)
Bottled LPG installations and safety
This qualification is the first step towards Y4 certification and becoming a Chief Engineer on yachts up to 200GT and 1,500kW.
