SUPERYACHT ENGINEER COURSE
Overview
Our Superyacht Engineer Career Course offers our candidates everything they need to start looking for work as an Engineer, and is strongly recommended to those starting out in the industry.
Working as an Engineer in the superyacht industry is a career like no other. The starting salary for an entry level Engineer is around €3,500 per month tax-free depending on your nationality, and that excludes any additional tips you may receive from the likes of Justin Bieber, Beyoncé or J-Lo. Keep in mind that accommodation, food, uniform and basic toiletries are all included onboard so you have the potential to save large amounts, all whilst being paid to travel the world!
The Engineer is a vital part of the superyacht’s technical inner circle. Their duty is to ensure that the yacht is safe and running efficiently. This includes generation, maintenance, monitoring electricals, generators and filtration, as well as boats, skis, A/C, AV and IT.
Depending on the size of vessel, there may be a team of engineers, The field is fast becoming a desirable one. Engineers need to be responsible, show great pride and have a profound work ethic.
Qualified Yacht Engineers are very much sought after in the superyacht industry due to an over-supply of Deck Officers. In order to progress within the engineering department, the AEC is the fundamental starting block as further qualification are only recognised if the candidate holds this certificate.
Most entry-level Superyacht engineers will need to start out in the Deck department first and complete a dual Deck/Engineer role, before completely crossing over to the Engineering department. We recommend including the Superyacht Deckhand course to improve your chances of employment in this role.
